Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. { Sick, sick baby } My poor little baby was sick for a good 2 weeks. At first we thought it was just a common cold and after his fever continuously to sky rocket we finally took him to the hospital. Poor little one had an ear infection waiting to be treated. Thank God we finally knew what was wrong. For a week he was on antibiotics, and my little one was still recovering in this picture. It was so heartbreaking watching my baby so helpless and weak. It was even harder as his parents not having the ability to do much, but comfort him.

2. { Lost weight } During the time frame that Ryu was sick he had lost so much of his cute little baby fat. To top off the fact that by being sick he really didn’t want to eat anything not even snacks. Now that Ryu’s recovering slowly but surely he’s eating little by little. He’s being picky and he’s eating junk, but I’m just glad he’s eating something rather than nothing at all.

3. { Games } We took Ryu to Chuck E Cheese for his Uncle Nick’s 3rd Birthday (Yes, he has an uncle that’s 3). He enjoyed going around and he just looked absolutely amazed about being in an arcade. It was so cute to watch him just try and babble his way through trying to communicate about which games he liked.

Flashback Friday

I figured since it seems like it’s been a while that I’ve posted on here that anything can be considered for a “Flashback Friday” post. It’s definitely been a while and for some reason I feel like I’ve neglected posting anything for Ryu, but that’s not really the case. With the Holidays towards the end of the year and with so much happening in our home lives I’ve just been sort of busy trying to organize everything. I’m still in the process of trying to plug in old posts on here just for my sake of having something keeping track of Ryu’s life. It’s nice to be able to look back on his growth and of course the moments we share together as a family.

Let’s start with the Flashback Friday.. I’m going way back and let’s start from Christmas. I’m glad Ryu had a successful Christmas! Seriously, I don’t really care whether I receive any gifts as long as my son get’s the proper Christmas he deserves. He got tons of gifts from our friends and family and he’s absolutely enjoying all his brand new toys. He’s so spoiled he even got a basketball set this Christmas courtesy of my mother. I’ll post pictures of that once he’s feeling much better. Here’s are pictures from our Christmas Eve.

I was very happy that Ryu got the concept of Christmas (well sort of). I don’t think that I’ve ever felt so much more excited for Ryu having to have this wonderful holiday. I love that he got to spend time with his grandparents and with just family in general. Lately, it just seems like our family is quite dysfunctional, but honestly what family isn’t? I was just glad that for one evening we can all put our problems aside and just enjoy the moment.

Here are a couple pictures of my baby.

Happy Birthday Ninong Roland (Godfather)

Happy Birthday Ninong (Godfather) Roland!! He’s finally 27! We’re thankful that we got invited to his dinner and of course we had to bring the little munchkin with us. We went to a buffet and boy did Ryu eat a whole bunch! I’m so proud of him because he actually enjoyed all the different types of food that I was feeding him. He thoroughly enjoyed some sauteed mushrooms which happens to be mommy’s favorite as well!

That evening Ryu and I came from a previous engagement with his other Godparent. Ryu just had a blast roaming around with other children so going to dinner with our friends was a change in the environment for him. He loves all our friends and therefore, he ran around like crazy with tons of smiles and kisses. I’m very glad Ryu isn’t the type of child that doesn’t easily get scared off by people. I mean at the same time that can be a bad thing, so we’ll just have to teach him about strangers, lol.

Here are a couple pictures taken by his Ninong Jay (http://jayjayn.com).

I noticed that my baby isn’t quite a baby anymore. He’s more of a growing little boy, and eventually he’ll be a man. I can’t believe how fast time is flying by. He’s all about them big boy clothes and shoes! To top off the fact that he’s just sporting a really short boy cut. Ahh, he’s growing up way too fast!

Flashback Friday; Ryu says “Green”

I’m glad that even if these clips are old that his Ninong (Godfather) is still making the effort to post it up. It gives me some type of compilation of what I’m missing out. My little man is growing so fast and sometimes I just can’t even believe he’s my baby. I still get sort of shocked from time to time thinking, “WOW! I’m a mother! I have this innocent life to take care of. I have this little person that I absolutely adore with all my heart”. Seriously, becoming a “new” parent is hard. The transition of taking care of a newborn being introduced to your life is life changing. Not knowing what’s next can become difficult, but it’s all a learning process. Sometimes we make mistakes, but that’s the beauty if it.

The pictures are all taken by his Ninong as well. These are some pictures taken before Ryu got his haircut.

Shopping & 1st Haircut

I was very fortunate that during the week my boss had handed me  giftcard to Target with the amount of $200.ooUSD just as a gift for forgetting my birthday. I’m very thankful and lucky because that’s normal for my boss to give us gifts on our birthdays or even when they’re just in a very good mood. I decided that instead of buying anything for myself that Ryu deserved to get a bunch of brand new clothes and supplies since he needs it. The giftcard that was given to me is a big help considering that its letting me catch up with a couple bills and allows me a little leeway to spend on other things. Anyway, I was excited to go shopping for Ryu since it was about that time that I bought him clothes that were a good 1-3 size bigger than him. Shucks, I even bought clothes for a 2 yr. old just so he can wear it for a while and I usually do that when I shop for him. Kids tend to grow so fast that sometimes spending almost $20.00USD for a pair of jeans or shoes can be a waste if they don’t wear it for a while. Here are a couple of the items I picked out:

Infant Boys’ Cherokee® Blue Erie Wash Denim Jeans

Infant Toddler Boys’ Genuine Kids from OshKosh Grey Cuffed Denim Pants

Infant Toddler Boys’ Almost Black Track Jacket

I can’t seem to find the other hoodies or shirts that I bought at Target on the website. Anyway, I did buy him a couple other pairs of clothing that I thought would be great since the weather was starting to change (finally). I also got him a hat that I thought was super cute, and I’ll be posting some pictures of Ryu in one of his new outfits. If there’s one thing that I love it’s absolutely dressing Ryu, he’s so cute I just love that my baby boy looks like a little toddler now! He’s all grown up. To top oft the mini shopping over the weekend.. my friend and I went to go look around the mall on Monday and each of us bought Ryu a pair of shoes! Lately, I’ve been having this shoe crave for Ryu. I think I’ll be buying him a pair of Jordan’s next week!

high tops converse.. my favorite for Ryu. ❤

When I came home with the boxes of shoes Ryu ran up to me and just yanked them from me. He was so happy about the shoes he kept smiling at me and opening the boxes. I’m not quite sure he gets that they’re gifts just yet, but he did know that they were for his feet, lol. He tried putting them on himself which was so cute. When I tried them on him he just sat down like a good boy and gave me his foot to put each shoe on.

On another note, Ryu got his first ever haircut over the weekend! I’m so glad that Ryu didn’t really give the hairdresser a problem. For the most part he sat like a really good boy in the chair and just sat there up until the end. I suppose he started to get a bit tired waiting. Here’s the Qik video that I took while he was getting his haircut. Sorry it’s not so clear, but on my phone it seemed fine.

I honestly, didn’t quite like how the hairdresser fixed his hair afterward, but it was a big change. I wasn’t used to seeing Ryu with such short hair let alone a semi-buzz cut. Romeo absolutely loved the cut! My mom dreaded it when we got home almost found her in tears because she’s so used to Ryu’s long hair. I told her hair is hair, it’ll eventually grow back. What I liked about Ryu getting his haircut was that he looks like a little boy now. I hate when others ask if Ryu’s a boy or girl, lol. At least now you can really distinguish that he’s a little boy. Here are some more pictures from the salon.

The good thing a lot of people are shocked why Ryu doesn’t cry when we put him through these first time situations. Honestly, we’re so blessed that Ryu barely cries. If he does it’s because he’s tired or finally irritated. Otherwise, he’s a very social, talkative little boy. I don’t know how that’s come about considering when he was younger I never liked anyone touching him, haha. I guess different kids, different strokes? He has his moments and I’m glad that at this point he can tolerate and make life a little bit easier for us. You’d be surprised too when he gets shots he actually just sits there up until he gets it he cries quietly. Eventually, he just knocks out. I love Ryu and I’d love him even if he was a loud little boy!

Here is Ryu’s outfit over the weekend.
