Americana Outing

If you’re from the L.A area you would’ve heard of Americana by Brand (located in the heart of Glendale). I woke up Sunday during brunch time and my best friend (Ryu’s Godparent) had called me asking to hang out. He said he misses Ryu and so he wanted to pay a visit or go out pretty much anything I was up for. I should have known better than to take my chances going out that afternoon! The sun was scorching hot and I felt so bad for Ryu he was just sweating up a storm even with the AC on. Anyway, we headed for Americana while Romeo went to work. He decided to meet up with us after he was done. I had a great time just walking around minus the heat. It sort of sucks because I wasn’t able to get any pictures of Ryu running around outside Americana, just felt too damn hot.

I think that we’re probably just going to go back sometime when the weather starts to cool off. I’d really like to capture some photos of Ryu outdoors. I don’t get much of those so it would be nice to get some good ones. The fun part is that today Ryu had a photoshoot with 2 of his Godparents. I probably won’t be able to post up any of those pictures til they’re edited so hold on tight for that.

Here are the pictures from Americana.

Ryu w. his Ninong (Godfather) Jonathan.

We had to use the really old carseat because we forgot to ask Romeo to leave the toddler carseat before he left for work. Poor Ryu he was too big for the carseat, but he still managed to fall asleep.

After walking around Romeo finally had left work and decided to meet up with us to have lunch. Of course, we opted to have Cheesecake Factory since that’s Romeo’s favorite place to eat. It was really nice to see Ryu eat since he’s gotten pretty picky about food. It’s been so hard to find anything for him to eat that he enjoys besides french fries, lol. Jonathan had ordered broccoli and cheese soup and he enjoyed that dearly.

Ryu w. Daddy

Ryu knocked out after a long day

That was pretty much the day, there are more pictures I’m planning to post once I’m done editing. I just need to get everything organized. I had a good day with my family. It was really nice to finally have some quality time with Ryu outside of just hanging out at a friends place or just back and forth at the same places. I’m seriously thinking of doing more of these quality time moments every chance I get. I really get Ryu to myself on Mondays and Thursdays so expect tons of pictures!!

Random Photo Op.

I was playing around with my crappy SLR, and realized not only am I bad at taking pictures of Ryu, but I’m also horrible at photo editing. Obviously with that comes skill, but I feel like I just don’t have the eye for this sort of hobby. It’s something I badly want to learn, but I know it’s experience and just equipment. Hopefully if I keep up just practicing I’ll sort of get a bit better with time. I’m still trying to find new programs to play around with so hopefully I can manage with what I have.

I did virtually realize that I completely suck at editing.. after looking at these pictures I was sort of disappointed. Oh, well I guess let’s see what lightroom can do for me. I’m popping that sucker in once I get home. I love following Nani’s blog because all she talks about her Sae. She also runs great pictures on her site of Sae and I’m envious of how well they turn out!

These are pictures taken at home of Ryu and I. I was bored and decided it was time to take out the crappy SLR and just play around with it. I told myself, crappy pictures or not the quality of the pictures of this camera was better than my regular digital camera. I also told myself that I needed to start taking pictures of Ryu on the regular and just get myself used to it. I realized that once I started doing that it almost because second nature for me to capture everything Ryu was doing. To be honest there were times I felt like a silly tourist, but it’s worth it in the end once Ryu get’s to see these pictures. Again, forgive me for the lack of talent I have when it comes to photo editing.

It’s actually quite funny because as I was taking pictures of Ryu I noticed that he would pose for the camera once in a while. It’s like he understands that I’m taking pictures of him and he honestly didn’t seem to mind me snapping away. I plan to do more random photos like these of Ryu and I was thinking of starting my “baby fashion” choices, but I’m not quite sure where I’m planning to blog that at.

Btw, my little man has his first photoshoot tomorrow with his Godparents who happen to be amateur photographers. I’m quite excited actually because it’s going to be so fun and so cute of Ryu. I’ve literally waited for a whole year for his Godparents to finally organize a shoot. I guess what makes it even better is that it’s an actual shoot just for Ryu. I’m definitely going to be taking my own pictures behind the scenes!

Nanay’s Birthday (Great Grandmother)

I definitely want to greet my grandmother (Ryu’s great grandmother) a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! Actually her birthday landed on a Friday evening and she pretty much just wanted a bunch of her church friends to come over our apartment and have a little get together. She wasn’t expecting much really nor did she want much, but to just spend time with her family and close friends. It was actually not bad having a good group of around 20 people over with tons of food and company. Honestly, I didn’t really do much gathering, I ate and then headed for our room. I know I’m probably a party pooper, but I was tired and well it was just getting way too loud for me.

They all absolutely loved Ryu! I’m glad they did because Ryu was literally everywhere trying to talk to everyone (well mostly babble) and just be his sweet, wholesome self. When I was younger I thought to myself I hope that one day I’ll have children while my grandparents are still around. I pray to God everyday for their health, safety, and just for them in general. They’ve been a really big part of my life and I couldn’t ask for better grandparents.  I also want them actively involved in Ryu’s life. They’ve always been involved in my childhood they practically raised me and took care of me which is why I dearly love them. They’re also very good with children and well I trust Ryu with them with all my heart. It’s funny because when Ryu was born and had a couple minor complications they would teach me how to deal with the situation the old school way.

So once again I wanted to greet my grandmother a happy 79th birthday. I’m very thankful for having the family I have in my life. They’re very supportive of me having Ryu at such a young age. I’m fortunate because a lot of parents and grandparents can be difficult in accepting their children or grandchildren having kids at such a young age. They’ve been very supportive since day one and I won’t lie at times they can get difficult and get on my case, but I know it’s because they care about me. I’m also glad that they absolutely love Ryu like no tomorrow. I hope that Ryu gets to truly experience them and their love (understanding who they are really) when he’s much older. I hope that they live long enough to see Ryu really grow up. They’re seriously such a big part of my life and I’d love for them to be a big part of Ryu’s as well. I know Ryu loves them even if he can’t say it just yet.

Completely new to the mommyblogging world

Alright, if you all don’t quite know who I am yet my name is Abby. I’m in my early twenties and mother to a young year old baby boy. I pretty much started this website in due time to capture my son grow up (don’t believe in scrapbooks I guess, lol). Actually If you’re barely following me I own a previous website (dirtontherocks.com) where I do all my personal blogging. I decided to divide most of the blogging when it comes to Ryu just so that I can really keep track of all the pictures and what’s happening in my family’s life.

Okay, enough about me, but more on to Ryu. He’s my pride and joy and he was born on July 28, 2009 which makes him 14 months old now. I have tons of pictures documenting parts of his first year, but I’ve also missed out on a couple months. I guess after a whole year passed I soon realized that the only thing that keeps me going with the pictures is if I can instantly post them somewhere. That’s what made me come up with the blog. If you’d like to read up more about my pregnancy and Ryu’s first year you can definitely check out the post I made on my main blog (CLICK HERE). I hope that you enjoy the journey I take you to with Ryu’s progress growing up and all the situations I face being a new mother.

I don’t think that I’ll actually be blogging once a day if anything I’ll blog as much as I want in a day so nothing will be consistent on here. Please feel free to reach out to me for any types of advice, questions, or comments! I’d love to hear from other parents out there.
